Safar: Syria has made significant achievements in the agricultural sector
Minister of Agriculture and Agrarian Reform Dr. Adel Safar stressed that Syria became able, through the program of economic reform and the adoption of a collective approach, to make significant achievements in the agricultural sector as a whole which contributed to providing food security and improved living standards.

Speaking at the meetings of the thirty-third session of the Board of Governors of the International Fund for Agricultural Development IFAD being held in Rome Wednesday, Safar said that the government moved in the recent years to the overall development, which includes the development of rural communities in particular, and human resources development in general.

Safar highlighted the importance of rural communities in economic and social life, where women have captured a large part of the development aspects through the development of rural women in development projects.

Such projects have contributed to the spread of education, literacy and computer use and revived the environment of knowledge of rural women and harnessed the possibilities for advancement of rural women and keeping up with the construction era.

Minister Safar concluded his address by saying, "Syria is looking forward to the day when hunger and deprivation of the world are no more, and all peoples of the world enjoy development and prosperity".
